Links promising photos of naked celebrities may be teeming with malware

Security researchers have uncovered a new internet scheme targeting web surfers who click on links promising explicit photos of celebrities.
More than 3,000 websites have been found linked to the new scam, according to IT Pro. Cyber criminals have poisoned keywords that involve naked images of famous female celebrities, including Sandra Bullock and Lindsay Lohan.
Users who click on the malicious links are directed to a website hosting a rogue anti-virus scam named Antivirus Plus, the report relays. Security experts advise web surfers to practice smart internet behavior and to update their antivirus software as a way to defend against these dangerous attacks.
Experts also recommend users ignore pop-up advertisements from anti-malware software that they may never have heard of before, as many of these ads are infested with viruses and dangerous files.
Criminals have often used similar adult-themed tactics to target Facebook users. Recently, the social networking site was overrun with dangerous links promising to connect users to naked pictures of famous female celebrities.
