Dell shipped motherboards infected with malware

Dell recently admitted that it shipped server motherboards that had been loaded with malware to some of its customers.
The company agreed to replace the computer equipment that had data-stealing viruses installed, and has issued warnings to recipients of the systems to be wary of malware. Security researchers have identified the malicious cyber tool as the W32.Spybot worm, which was found in flash storage on the motherboard.
The parts affected by the virus are replacement parts of servers, which are generally used by businesses to allow multiple individuals to access the same data without needing separate computers, Infopackets reports.
Security leaders advise users to report any suspicious system behavior and to update their antivirus software to protect against unauthorized infiltrations.
Most malware schemes target users through the internet - whether through corrupted links, phishing schemes or SQL injections. However, more and more instances of malware being pre-loaded onto manufactured goods are cropping up.
Incidents of smartphones being shipped with malware has become a featured story for many news outlets, as some of the schemes have cost users large sums of money.
